Thumbshots Specifications
Thumbshots are available in various sizes with the default set to 120W x 90H pixels. Studies show the effectiveness of thumbshot increases linearly with size until it levels off at 120 pixels. In other words, 120 pixel is the maximal size for optimal benefits.
All Thumbshots are highly compressed in JPEG format using the best compression library for highest quality and minimal file size. Each image is only 1kB to 3kB in size (smaller than most logos!). Our technology ensures Thumbshots will never slow down your site because Thumbshots only start loading after your page has completely downloaded and rendered. Users will not perceive any delay even on a 56 kbps modem.
Supported Formats
The output of each thumbshot is based on server HTTP response for that URL. For example, a screenshot for a page that no longer exists shows a picture with the 410 error code and the message "Page no longer available", therefore, immediately signaling the user that the link is broken. All message picture can be branded to your site and can host a sponsored advertisement.

Smartdevil currently supports both HTTP and HTTPS protocols, and can capture Text and HTML file formats (including all dynamically generated pages). All rendered Thumbshots fully comply to W3C HTML 4.0 specifications. Thumbshots automatically know to adjust to internal page redirection through META tags, support embedded frames (IFRAME, FRAMESET), floating layers, Javascript and Macromedia Flash.
